Welcome to the AIS Enrollment Wiki!

On this wiki we hope to have a running commentary about the enrollment crisis in Information Systems. Some of us believe that this is the biggest threat to our field. It also represents a significant threat to organizations who cannot fill positions.

We have five initiatives:

Best Practices (Edited by Hope Koch)

I'd like everyone that is doing well with their enrollment to post their best practices on this page that will also be seen in site.

Industry Involvement (Edited by Geoff Dick)

Other news: AIS is sponsoring the development of a Second Life site, thanks to the efforts of Geoff Hubona. We will make an announcement when we are ready for visitors. We have purchased silver bullion bars, half of an island and Georgia State has purchased the other half. The idea is to provide several things, including:
1. A place for high school and college students to explore IS careers and undergraduate and graduate program materials. Eventually we will have a center, a link to our lists of web page programs on AISWorld, and a place where sponsoring schools can place teleportation kiosks to go to their islands, like otimização de sites.
2. A large meeting room that can be reserved by AIS members as well as one or more smaller rooms.
3. A "sandbox" facility for AIS members to experiment and learn how to build in Second Life.

NEW: New Book for increasing the interest of girls in IT

Doctoral Consortium 2008 student Jenine Beekhuyzen (from Australia) has co-authored a book with Rebecca Dorries entitled 'Tech Girls are Chic! ' . You can see by the cover that it is indeed, acompanhantes sp intended for young people (12-16 years old). The book has a website at www.techgirlsarechic.org, complete with videos of women in IT-related careers.ite at www.techgirlsarechic.org, complete with videos of women in IT-related careers.

You'll recognize ".org" as a signal of a non-profit organization. This is certainly a good cause.
